PORT ALLEN- The results of early voting have former mayor Deedy Slaughter losing her battle to get her job back.
> UPDATE: All precincts have reported and Slaughter lost the mayoral election. Click HERE for an updated story.
Four of the 14 precincts report Richard Lee as the front-runner with 63% of the vote so far. Slaughter trails with 32%. So far, 1765 votes have been cast; 1109 are for Lee. There are four candidates vying for the position.
These first results will change, since they are the decisions made by people who wanted to vote before today's election and four voting locations. About 36% of voters cast their ballots early.
Slaughter was removed from office by a recall election after a series of very public flaps, including council meetings that became screaming matches between residents and leaders.
