Six people shot in seven hours
Baton Rouge Police are investigating two shootings that happened within just seven hours and left six people wounded, just as the Memorial Day weekend wrapped up.
Two teenagers were shot in their legs on La Margie Avenue just before 9:30 Monday night, according to Baton Rouge Police PIO Don Kelly. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment, but neither was in critical condition.
Witnesses told police a group of three to five men was walking down the street when one or more of the men opened fire.
Just hours later, four more were shot at a Raceway gas station on Airline Highway. Around 1:45 Tuesday morning, investigators said one woman was shot in the buttocks, two men were shot in the abdomen, and another man was grazed in the head with a bullet.
The man who was shot in the abdomen was the only one in critical condition, according to Kelly.
Police believe the gunman at Raceway was alone. Although police have very limited descriptions of the people they are looking for, they do not believe the shootings are connected.
"According to the people who were shot, they have no idea who the shooter was or why he was shooting or if he was shooting at them or someone else," Kelly said.
If you have any information on the shootings, call the Baton Rouge Police Department.
