Six injured in July 4th lightning strike
MANY, La. - Sabine Parish Sheriff Ronny Richardson says six people were injured by lightning at the Cypress Bend RV park on Toledo Bend Reservoir.
A lightning bolt struck during a Fourth of July celebration near the reservoir along the Louisiana-Texas state line.
Parish Warden Joe Dewil says it's believed to have hit a tree just after 7 p.m. Saturday.
Richardson says all six people went to Sabine Medical Center in Many. He says he doesn't know whether they went in ambulances or private vehicles, because several 911 calls for an ambulance were followed by one saying they'd go by private vehicle.
Their names and conditions were not available.
Dewil says they are believed to have non-life threatening injuries, such as chest pain and headaches.
