Six girls arrested after fight at school
GONZALES - Sheriff's deputies arrested six girls after a fight Monday at Central Middle School in Gonzales, according to a department spokesperson.
Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said the fight stemmed from an ongoing social media feud between two of the girls, which boiled over at the school.
Bacala said the girls bumped into each other during school and began punching each other. He said their friends joined in and two teachers trying to break up the fight were injured.
Authorities sent the two girls involved in the initial fight to the Assumption Parish Youth Detention Center, and released the other arrested girls into their parents' custody.
All six girls were charged with disturbing the peace, simple battery, and simple battery of a teacher.
