NAPOLEONVILLE – The Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office arrested six people accused of smuggling drugs into the Parish Detention Center.

Sheriff's investigators initiated an investigation a few weeks ago after corrections employees reported suspicious activities outside of the facility. The investigation revealed that the contraband was being delivered to areas outside of the building and then distributed inside the building by at least two inmates.

Detectives were able to identify and arrest six people on introducing contraband into a penal institution, distribution of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia charges. They are as follows:

- Amber Stevens, 22
- Ashley Robichaux, 27
- Jaycee Rentrop, 21
- Beau Matte, 26
- Drake Geisler, 22
- Billy Chapman, Jr., 29

Matte, Chapman and Geisler were already in jail on separate charges. The above people arrested were not workers of the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
