BATON ROUGE - State traffic officials announced they will add signs and clearer road striping at the I-10 and Picardy exit where a driver went off the side of an embankment and into a nearby creek.
Investigators said the driver died of natural causes before her SUV went off the road and into Ward's Creek this past December. Searchers spent several hours looking for the vehicle before discovering it submerged in about 25 to 30 feet of water.
The Department of Transportation and Development did a safety study of the area to see if a guardrail or further safety measures were needed. Spokesperson Jodi Conachen said they will add signs warning about the curve at the exit, and re-stripe the roadway near the merge point to make it very clear to drivers.
