Signatures certified for recall election of Port Allen Mayor
PORT ALLEN - West Baton Rouge Parish Registrar of Voters Stacy Ryan turned in names to Governor Jindal today certifying signatures for a recall election for Port Allen Mayor Deedy Slaughter.
More than 1,400 names were turned in last Tuesday. Over the course of the week, Ryan had help from area registrars to certify 1,387 names. They used special software to compare signatures and other information to certify the names.
Now that the names have been turned in, Governor Jindal has 15 days to call a recall election. The earliest it could be held is November.
Slaughter has been the subject of numerous News 2 investigations that showed possible wrongdoing.
News 2's Chief Investigator Chris Nakamoto will have more on these breaking developments throughout the day.
