Each year Weatherwise Magazine conducts a photo contest, open to all amateur weather photographers. Contestants compete for a grand prize, one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes and honorable mentions. Entries range from atmospheric phenomena to seasonal images and drastic storms. Hopefully the mention of the contest will encourage those that review this column and enjoy weather photography to participate. South Louisiana certainly has its share of interesting weather items and in reviewing the winners, over these many years; I haven't noted any winners from our area. Weatherwise website: www.weatherwise/org showcases the winners contest rules. First Prize went to Tyler Mode of Battle Ground, Washington showing an unusually lenticular cloud above Mount Rainier. Second Prize was a rainbow with a supernumerary bow from Taos, New Mexico.
