Shrimp shortage driving up prices
BATON ROUGE - A shortage in the global shrimp market is rapidly driving up local prices.
A disease which kills prawns has hit shrimp markets overseas, reducing the overall supply and driving up prices around the globe.
In July federal fisheries officials also predicted a below-average brown shrimp season for waters off Louisiana and Texas through the next year.
