General Motors announced Tuesday it will shut down Hummer after a failed bid to sell the brand to a Chinese company. The decision means the GM assembly plant in Shreveport will likely close.
The plant has already seen payroll reduced from about 3,000 employees to around 950. Last year, it was marked to be shut down no later than June 2012.
Assembly of the Hummer H3 and the H3T pickup was halted last month pending completion of proposed sale of the brand.
