Shreveport's overall crime rate drops
SHREVEPORT- The latest statistics show the Shreveport's overall crime rate is on the decline.
The Times reports there was a 9 percent reduction in the first three months of 2013 when compared with the first quarter of last year.
When broken down by types of crimes, most notable is a drop in burglaries - residential and business. The rate of violent offenses - which include homicides, rapes and aggravated assaults - took a slight dip.
But there's been a 75 percent jump in homicides alone when compared with the same quarter in 2012. And the number of business robberies increased by 64 percent.
