SHREVEPORT - Authorities in Shreveport say an 11-year-old girl was seriously injured when she was struck by a police car.
The accident happened around 7 a.m. Thursday.
Police said the girl was standing in the street when a patrol car topped a small hill. Officials said the officer at the wheel had no time to try to avoid hitting the child.
Police spokesman Bill Goodin said it did not appear that the officer had been speeding.
The girl was taken to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Her name was not released. Officials said she is a student of Broadmoor Middle School in Shreveport.
