Higher rentals on viewing spots for Mardi Gras parades may help Shreveport shore up the city budget.
The Shreveport City Council's public safety committee passed a proposal that would increase the price of rented viewing locations along a parade route.
Currently, the city charges $10 to $20 each, but if the full council approves the plan, the cost will go up to $75.
That would bring in almost $28,000 to help defray the city's costs associated with the parades.
