BATON ROUGE - A woman was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after she was found shot on Florida Boulevard Tuesday.

She was later pronounced dead at the hospital after succumbing to her injuries, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Authorities responded to the 11000 block of Florida Boulevard in response to a report of a possible shooting victim around 5:30 p.m Tuesday.

Baton Rouge Police believe the victim was shot while inside the vehicle. It is unknown at this time if the shooting occurred on Florida Boulevard.

The shooting remains under investigation, Baton Rouge Police said.
