BATON ROUGE- A man is fighting for his life after he was shot, then lost control of his car and slammed into a house.
It happened just after 4am Wednesday on Oriole Street near Scotland Avenue.
No one was in the home at the time of the accident. The name of the 25 year-old shooting victim has not been released.
But the owner of the house says there could've been a much different story, if it wasn't for a twist of fate.
The man, who only wants to go by "Darrell" says, "A woman was supposed to move into her house with her two kids yesterday. The Lord just fixed it for it not to happen."
Darrell tells News 2 says the mother of two was set to sign moving-in papers with him this weekend. But something kept them from getting together.
He says, " I had several things going on Saturday then I had a problem with my truck. "
The landord says when their meeting fell through, she decided to just move in next week.
He adds, " The Lord works in myseterious ways. I'm just so glad she wasn't there."
Police say the shooting victim is in critical condition. No word on a possible suspect.
