Shooting on Bourbon Street, 9 injured
NEW ORLEANS - The shooter had his sights set on one man, but then emptied his gun into the crowd on Bourbon Street, according to witnesses.
New Orleans police say nine people were injured when the gunman opened fire early Sunday morning. It happened just before 3 a.m. on the 700 block of Bourbon Street.
Officials say seven of the victims are in stable condition, one is in critical condition, and the other is unknown.
Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
Our sister station, WWL-TV, reports that this is the third major shooting on Bourbon Street in three years. The first was on Halloween 2011 where one was killed and seven others were injured. The other was last February on the weekend before Mardi Gras where four were injured.
