Shooting kills woman and leaves son injured
A woman is dead and her son is clinging to life after they were shot multiple times on S. Sunderland Avenue, near O'Neal Lane in Baton Rouge.
It happened Wednesday night.
Deputies say 40-year-old Patricia Aldridge and her 21-year-old son were shot with a high-powered assault rifle. It appears they were targeted by several attackers.
Aldridge died at the hospital. Her son is on life support.
Investigators recovered the weapon and have several people of interest in custody.
Neighbors tell News 2 there have been other shootings and burglaries in the area over the past few weeks. Many residents say they plan to move because of the activity.
