BATON ROUGE - Police are still investigating a random shooting that left a trail of chaos and a woman hit by a stray bullet.

Police are releasing new information about what happened along the 3900 block of Government St. The gunfire hit two cars driving down the road, and one of them involved a 22-year-old woman who was shot in the leg. Investigators said second car was also hit by bullets and a third car wrecked trying to leave the area.

Police are not sure who was firing the gun.

Councilwoman C-Denise Marcelle told News 2 she isn't happy with the reckless crime.

"It's disheartening," said Marcelle. "Anytime you hear a shooting, but particularly when you have someone driving down the street minding their own business."

Investigators said they don't believe the victims involved are related in any way to each other.

"We ask that if anybody has any information or was in the area sometime between 8 and 8:45 p.m. please pick up the phone and give us a call," said Don Coppola, Spokesperson for the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The woman hit in the leg is expected to make a full recovery.
