Shooter pleads guilty in teen's death
BATON ROUGE - A teen charged as an adult in the murder of another Baton Rouge teen pleaded guilty to the charges against him Tuesday morning.
Branikin Jones admitted in court he killed Daylon Wheeler, who was shot to death on Buttonwood Drive back in November 2011. Jones was 15 at the time, and Wheeler was 16.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing fight between the teens. They said Jones also took a bag of marijuana off Wheeler after shooting him.
A judge sentenced Jones to 50 years, and he will have to serve 85 percent of that sentence.
