Sheriff: High speed chase leads to man's 5th DWI arrest
NAPOLEONVILLE-52 year old Marty Jamison is in jail on 34 charges Including drunk driving. His arrest last night is his fifth DWI.
It all started here where Highway 308 and Spur 70 meet. Just a few miles from downtown Napoleonville. A place where everyone still buzzing about last night's high speed chase.
"For a little town like this, we don't need none of that," says Calvin Nelson.
Deputies say Jamison took off when they tried to pull him over for driving under the speed limit. They also say he just got out of jail for a previous DWI arrest.
"Well some people just don't learn, they have to suffer the consequences. DWI is a bad thing, you're risking other people's lives," Nelson says.
Deputies say Jamison led them on a 20 mile chase through three parishes. Even road spikes couldn't stop his 100 mile an hour speed according to authorities. It all finally came to an end in Iberville parish when deputies shot at his tires.
"I don't think they had to shoot. There's other ways they could've stopped him," says Nelson.
"Oh I think they did what they had to do," Richard says.
Jamison was treated at a hospital in Iberville parish then transferred to an Assumption Parish jail. Where so far he has no bond.
