CLINTON - East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Talmadge Bunch says his staff will no longer take 911 calls beginning Nov. 19, if a new financial deal with the parish cannot be worked out.

The sheriff's office currently supplies half of the eight-person emergency communications staff. Sheriff's officials say currently payments from the parish only cover the employees pay, and not their benefits package.

Warden Ray Newman says the sheriff's office needs another $3,200 dollars per month to cover those costs. He says the sheriff's office has absorbed those costs for several years, but can no longer do so because of difficult budget times.

The East Feliciana 911 Commission will consider what to do during a meeting scheduled for 9:00 am Friday morning.
