Sheriff Sid Gautreaux to be honored today
BATON ROUGE - East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Sid Gautreaux and seven others will be inducted into the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame today.
"I am humbled by the honor of being recognized by my colleagues and the community," Sheriff Gautreaux says. "I entered a career in law enforcement to serve the public, and I am blessed by the opportunity to do so. I am overwhelmed by such an acknowledgement."
According to EBRSO, Gautreaux's career in law enforcement spans 38 years, including 27 as the Chief of Police in Baker. He was elected seven times, and ran unopposed in his last four terms. Gautreaux held the position until he resigned in 2007 to run for East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff.
The ceremony today include a luncheon and tour of Angola State Penitentiary followed by a reception and banquet tonight.
