GONZALES - The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office announced they are holding a memorial ceremony to honor fallen officers on Friday.

The annual ceremony takes place during National Police Week and offers a chance to show gratitude to officers killed in the line of duty during the past year, according to Allison Hudson of the Sheriff's Office.

Hudson said the service will also recognize the brave men and women who currently serve and protect the community.

The ceremony will be held at 9094 S. St. Landry Road in Gonzales on Friday, May 16 at 10 a.m. and is open to the public.
