PAULINA - The St. James Parish Sheriff's Office asked people to report sightings of others dressed in scary Halloween costumes who may walk through businesses.

Monday evening the department posted a picture of two people dressed as anything but happy clowns in a grocery store. Deputies wrote the people wore masks, dark clothing - one appeared dressed in a refinery jumpsuit, and bright gloves. The masked renegades walked through the Matherne's Supermarket, likely spooking people who were shopping.

"The two individuals did not act aggressively and left the store after the manager demanded they leave," the department wrote on its social media page.

The sheriff's office asked anyone with information on the clowns to call deputies at 225-562-2200. The sheriff's office also asked people to report any similar incident.

It's not clear if a law was broken, but the clowns caused some to feel uneasy.
