One killed in overnight stabbing, suspect turns himself in
ASCENSION PARISH - Deputies say one man was stabbed to death early Sunday morning, and the suspect is in jail. It happened at Susan's Place Trailer Park on Coontrap Road just outside of Gonzales.
Jesus Monterrossa turned himself in Sunday afternoon.
Officials say 24-year-old Hilario Monterrossa was killed. Reports say he wanted to see his child but the mother and her current boyfriend, Jesus, refused. There is no relation between Hilario and Jesus.
Hilario and his cousin went over to the house anyway with his cousin. Deputies say Hilario forced his way into the home, leading to a fight between him and Jesus. Officials say Jesus eventually stabbed Hilario to death. Both Jesus and Hilario were intoxicated.
According to authorities, Jesus also went after Hilario's cousin, but he was able to get away.
Neighbors who live nearby say nothing like this has ever happened before.
"In total shock. I was nervous and it's just...I'm still kind of shook up because I haven't been exposed to nothing like this," said Vincynthia Cole, who lives next door.
