PRAIRIEVILLE, La.- A man was shot while burglarizing a vehicle, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office. It happened on Stewart Road late Friday night.
Authorities got to the scene to find 28-year-old Adam Anderman, of Prairieville, laying in a yard bleeding from a gunshot wound.
The homeowner told investigators he was home with his wife and children when he heard someone breaking into their vehicle. Lott got his gun, opened the door and warned Anderman to get out of his vehicle, according to investigators. After several warnings Anderman got out of the vehicle and began to walk towards Lott who fired several shots at Anderman, according to investigators.
Anderman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Officials say Anderman is expected to survive and will later be arrested and charged with burglary and trespassing.
State Criminal Records show Anderman was arrested several years ago for burglary. Officials say he is currently on probation for forgery, three counts of obtaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance by fraud, and possession of several drugs without prescriptions.
