PORT ALLEN- West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Mike Cazes says a former LSU football player was arrested after he shot a woman in the head at a casino truck stop in Port Allen. The shooting happened yesterday evening at the Cajun Circus truck stop plaza on Highway 190 West.

Sheriff Cazes says deputies arrested 29-year-old Demetri Robinson, a former LSU tight end who played on the 2003 National Championship football team.

According to Cazes, Robinson was banned from the casino after he was involved in a fight there a few days ago. Cazes says Robinson was told to leave after he returned to the casino last night. A few minutes later, investigators say Robinson came back with a gun and shot at several people inside, including a cashier who was grazed in the head.

The woman who was shot is expected to be okay.

Robinson was booked in the West Baton Rouge Parish jail and charged with attempted first degree murder.
