Shell discusses Ascension Parish plans
GONZALES - Shell representatives held an open house to talk to members of the community about their possible plans in Ascension Parish.
The event at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center discussed their plans to possibly bring a gas-to-liquid chemical facility to the Sorrento area.
The decision to build the plant is still years off, but Shell representatives said they wanted to make a connection to the community early as well as gather public feedback about the proposed project.
"We're hoping what they take away is that we're open, we want to hear what they think about the project... we want to start the process of working with the community," said Michael Cathey, the project lead.
Shell will hold two more open houses this week, one Wednesday at Rose's Catering in St. James Parish from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and then Thursday night at The Venue in Gonzales from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
