Many consider the Shaw Center the cultural heart of downtown Baton Rouge. LSU announced this week that potential budget cuts could put the center in jeopardy.
The Shaw Center includes the LSU Museum of Art, the Manship Theater and numerous private businesses. LSU currently pays about $413,000 each year for its share of the partnership.
The LSU funding may not be available if the state's current budget woes continue. People in both, public and private, offices within the center say they hope this worst case scenario doesn't come true.
