The Hammond City Council has approved an ordinance prohibiting sex offenders from entering city parks or public recreational facilities. The Hammond Police Department will post signs informing people about the new regulation.

There was not a dissenting vote at the meeting, Tuesday. Police told members that there are 60 registered sex offenders living in Hammond and that 294 of them live in Tangipahoa Parish.
