Law banning sex offenders from social media thrown out
BATON ROUGE - The governor's administration plans to appeal a judge's decision to allow sex offenders back on social media websites like Facebook.
Last week, U.S. District Judge Brian Jackson threw out the recently-passed law banning registered sex offenders from social media sites. Jackson said the law went too far, calling it "an unreasonable restriction on constitutionally protected speech."
The law went into effect in August.
