Sex offender wanted for failing to register, home invasion, theft
GONZALES - Sheriff's deputies in Ascension Parish asked for the public's help Wednesday in locating a sex offender wanted for failing to register along with home invasion and theft charges.
Investigators say 28-year-old Dustin Sanders checked in with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Division to update his work registration to his current home address on Lambert Road in Gonzales, but a May 11 compliance check revealed Sanders had not occupied that address for about six months. Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley said Sanders is classified as a Tier I sex offender.
Detectives believe the man may currently be in Tylertown, Mississippi living with his family or friends.
Sanders is described as being 5'9" and weighs 170 pounds. He has blonde hair, hazel eyes and has a large tattoo on the right side of his neck.
Deputies said Sanders was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in May of 2009 and was placed on probation. He has a long arrest record with a total of eight arrests on charges including simple burglary, theft, domestic abuse battery and failure to register as a sex offender in April 2012 and again in May 2013.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dustin Sanders is urged to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office at (225) 621-4636.
