BATON ROUGE- Law enforcement agencies across the area are ramping up efforts to crack down on sex offenders who are not in compliance with the law.

Last week, Livingston Parish deputies arrested ten men for failing to stay in compliance. Bond was set at $25,000 for each person.

Jason Johnson was one of them. Neighbors in the Southpoint Subdivision where he lives said the arrest's implications have them concerned.

"It concerns me that they are not following through with what they are supposed to be doing," said Chris McCullough, who lives less than ten feet away from Johnson.

McCullough's 9-year old daughter plays in the neighborhood often. He's happy to hear that law enforcement is keeping tabs on registered sex offenders.

"I've already let my daughter know that I would prefer if her friend came over to our house as opposed to her go over there," said Kara McCullough.

The State Department of Corrections said the Office of Probation and Parole plans to conduct checks on Halloween to make sure people are in compliance.

Still, other neighbors aren't taking any chances.

"We are moving in December because it's just gotten very bad," said another resident of the subdivision.

News 2 checked with other parishes in the area. Ascension and West Baton Rouge Parishes already have deputies assigned to make sure offenders are in compliance. Law enforcement in those areas say no additional plans are in the works for Halloween, because it's already a focus.
