DENHAM SPRINGS - State Police arrested a Denham Springs man Tuesday night and spent Wednesday searching his home Wednesday as part of a murder case.

Capt. Doug Cain said troopers arrested Christopher Disspayne, 53, on suspicion of improper registration as a sex offender.  Cain said investigators spoke to Disspayne as part of their investigation into the murder of 21-year-old Lindsay Ellixson, whose body was found dumped in Claycut Bayou in East Baton Rouge recently.

Cain said when they learned Disspayne was a sex offender who'd registered improperly, they arrested him.

"[State Police] Came to this residence to follow up on a lead [and] met an individual here, the homeowner, interviewed him and learned [Tuesday night] that he was in violation of his sex offender registry requirements. State Police arrested him on that charge," Cain said.

Cain also confirmed troopers were searching Disspayne's house Wednesday afternoon in connection with the Ellixson investigation.

He said investigators were there to "try to find some connection to a crime. Certainly, that's what we are going to do, not only in this awful homicide situation that EBR is working but any crime," Cain said.

"That's what the process is here in Livingston. Following up on a lead. Doing our due diligence. Making sure we are thorough. Making sure we are doing everything we have to do to get the information that we are looking for."

Disspayne was convicted in Louisiana in 1990 of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, and in Kentucky in 1982 of aggravated kidnapping and forcible rape. He's being held in the Livingston Parish jail on a $500,000 bond.
