Sex, drugs and contraband
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND- An unfolding scandal with allegations of sex, drugs and access to contraband cell phones surrounds a jail in downtown Baltimore.
It has led to an indictment charging 25 prisoners, corrections officers and outside suppliers with a contraband conspiracy. The indictment says one prisoner impregnated four female corrections officers, one woman twice.
Prosecutors say the guards smuggled drugs and cell phones inside the jail to be used or sold by members of the Black Guerrilla Family gang.
Thursday, state law makers begin hearings on the scandal and the head of state prisons has moved his office to the jail to increase oversight.
The governor has also put together a task force to address the corruption.
