Dozens of people are cleaning up raw sewage in the homes in Baton Rouge.

The backup is affecting houses in the Ashley Place subdivision located off Florida Boulevard near South Flannery Road.

Latasha Janeau rents a house in the neighborhood, and has been dealing with the sewage problems for months.

Now, she's decided to move out and her landlord, Tommy Leonard, doesn't blame her.

He brought in his own plumbing crew to try and fix the problem.

John Ward, Wastewater Collection Manager, says this is an ongoing problem caused by grease in the pipes.

The City's Department of Public Works plans to replace a pump station and sewage line in the area to increase pumping capacity and flow.
