Emergency officials say severe storms Saturday heavily damaged a church in east central Mississippi and caused minor damage to a school in the northern part of the state.
Greg Flynn, spokesman for the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, says meteorologists had not confirmed whether a tornado struck in Lauderdale County. That's where a church was damaged by strong winds.
He says minor damage occurred at Olive Branch Middle School in DeSoto County, just south of Memphis, Tenn.
