Seven guns found in EBR schools
Since the beginning of this school year, at least seven guns have been found on East Baton Rouge Parish public school campuses.
Five were spotted by students and four were found loaded. Officials credit students with the ability to find the guns.
"You have students that are coming forward feeling much more comfortable coming forward to adults, or principals, staff at school," said EBR Schools spokesperson, Chris Trahan.
Still, teacher representatives said schools are still a safe place to be.
"If I would think about where I want my child to be where I would feel safe," said Carnell Washington, President of the Baton Rouge Teacher's Federation, "I think I would feel safest at a school even though we do have these kind of things that happen."
