Serious Airline Hwy crash injures mother, 4-year-old daughter
BATON ROUGE - A Baton Rouge Police officer came to the rescue as he assisted a mother and her 4-year-old daughter following a serious crash on Airline Highway Thursday night.
Sergeant Duke Staples arrived at the scene in the 9000 block of Airline to find the little girl barefoot, having lost her shoes during the wreck, and walking around in the broken glass that littered the scene. Sgt. Staples was quick to step in and check on the condition of the mother, 4-year-old and her 12-year-old sister until EMS arrived.
Police did not report the severity of the injuries sustained in the crash, but said the mother and 12-year-old daughter were both hospitalized following the wreck. A family member arrived at the scene to take care of the 4-year-old as her mother and sister were at the hospital for treatment.
