New Orleans native Tyler Perry will be honored by the Georgia Senate for his achievements as entertainer and humanitarian.
Perry is the first celebrity to be honored in the chamber this session.

Senators will present Resolution 1188 to Perry, citing his silver-haired, sharp-tongued "Madea" character, Tyler Perry Studios - the first independent movie studio of its size in the state - and donations to area food banks and various charities.
