Sen. Dan Claitor's parents hit by truck
PRAIRIEVILLE - A wreck in Ascension Parish sent the parents of state Senator Dan Claitor the hospital this weekend, according to State Police.
LSP spokesperson Jared Sandifer said Nancy Claitor, 80, had serious injuries while Robert Claitor, 88, had minor injuries after they were hit from behind around noon Sunday.
Troopers said the Claitors were driving on Airline when they changed lanes and stopped in front of a pickup pulling a large trailer. The pickup hit them from behind, sending sending the Claitors' vehicle into the median.
Sen. Claitor is running for the open 6th District congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Bill Cassidy. He canceled campaign appearances Sunday after the crash, but was scheduled to be at the Baton Rouge Press Club luncheon Monday.
Sandifer said the crash remains under investigation.
