Semi slams into house, bursts into flames
PORT BARRE - Everyone involved in a fiery semi crash here Thursday escaped mostly unharmed.
It's a remarkable story to tell, considering the inferno that stopped traffic and caused smoke to billow high into the sky. The semi slammed into a house after a tire blow-out.
The crash happened on Highway 190 in St. Landry Parish. KATC.com reports the truck was headed west when the tire failed, forcing the truck to cross the median and hit the home on the side of the eastbound lanes. The truck eventually caught on fire, and burned a bright orange.
The driver and a five-year-old in the house had non-life threatening injures. Two other people inside were not hurt.
