Semi-finalists for Ascension Parish Superintendent to be interviewed
GONZALES- The Ascension Parish School Board will interview the semi-finalist candidates this week to fill the Superintendent position.
There are four semi-finalists left. Two of the original six candidates who were invited for an interview, Alonzo "Lonnie" Ray Luce and Harrison Peters, withdrew from the process.
On May 23, the Ascension Parish School Board narrowed down the selection to 10 candidates out of 47 applicants.
"It is not uncommon for candidates to withdraw during a search process, but we are excited to move forward with four very strong educators," Ascension Parish School Board President Patricia Russo said.
The four semi-finalists will be interviewed by the board via Skype at the Instructional Technology Training Center (ITTC) at Central Middle School in Gonzales.
The final candidates are Jerome Puyau, Superintendent of Schools of Vermillion Parish School Board, Stacy L. Scott, Superintendent of Framingham Public Schools, A. Katrise Perera, National Director for Urban Markets of McGraw-Hill Education and Rita B. Hernandez, area assistant Superintendent for middle and elementary schools of Brownsville Independent School District.
Just as a board meeting, members of the public can sit in on the interviews at the ITTC. Finalists will be invited to interview in open sessions in the parish the week of June 7-10.
