City Parish officials said Monday a section of Highland Road in Baton Rouge will be temporarily closed beginning Saturday, Feb. 27 as part of a Green Light Plan to widen the roadway.
In a press release, spokesman Scott Dyer said, "The roadway at the railroad crossing east of Interstate 10 will remain closed over the weekend (Feb. 27 and 29) and will re-open to the traveling public by 5 a.m. on Monday, March 1, weather permitting."
Dyer also said the closing was necessary to install new railroad crossing panels in the area.
Drivers should use Airline Highway and Perkins Road East as detours.
