Second suspect surrenders in pregnant woman's shooting
GONZLAES - Sheriff's deputies said a second suspect wanted in connection with the attempted murder of a pregnant woman turned herself in to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office today.
Deputies said Tiffany Victor, 27, is the girlfriend of the primary suspect, Cowan Collins, whom they said shot 25-year-old Kenyia Houston of Gonzales.
Investigator said Houston, who was eight months pregnant, was leaving her residence last week when Collins came up to her vehicle and shot at her, hitting her several times.
Deputies said Houston took off in her car in an attempt to save her and her unborn baby's life from the gunman. She wound up crashing at the intersection of Highway 621 and Orleans Drive in Gonzales.
The baby had to be delivered early, and both mother and child are okay according to deputies.
Deputies arrested Collins after the shooting last week. They also obtained an arrest warrant for Victor after they said they learned she was involved in the shooting in some way, and wasn't cooperating with investigators.
Deputies booked her into the Ascension Parish Jail where she is awaiting bond. They said she's charged with accessory after the fact of attempted first-degree feticide and accessory after the fact of attempted second-degree murder.
