Second Plaquemine ferry starts today
PLAQUEMINE- Starting today, a second vessel will be added to run the same route as the Plaquemine ferry. The new transportation is part of an effort to help clear up traffic at La. 1 and I-10 at the Mississippi River.
The second ferry will run from 3:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on weekdays and will be able to carry 120 cars across the river every hour.
Some people say that an extra 120 cars crossing the river each hour won't do much for the city's traffic problems. They believe that constructing a new bridge across the Mississippi River would be a more realistic solution.
The other ferry's hours have changed; it will now run from 4:30 a.m. until 8 p.m.
