BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Department of Revenue said the annual Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday will take place next week in Louisiana.

The holiday waives state and local sales taxes for qualifying purchases of guns, ammo and other hunting supplies from Friday, Sept. 4 through Sunday, Sept. 6.

The list includes legally-available firearms in the state, archery supplies for hunting, apparel like safety gear and camouflage clothing, and some off-road or all-terrain vehicles designed primarily for hunting. That does not include golf carts, go-carts, dirt-bikes or heavy equipment like front-end loaders.

The sales tax holiday takes place each year on the first consecutive Friday through Sunday each September. More details about tax exemptions and which purchases qualify can be found on the state treasurer's website.
