Search of river fails to find missing Port Allen canoer
PORT ALLEN- The Coast Guard spent Monday searching the Mississippi River for a missing canoer.
A helicopter flew above 180 miles of the river and a crew in a boat searched 22 miles on the water looking for "Rooster" Guy. Guy was last seen by a member of a band he was working for around 11:30 p.m. Friday. He said he was riding his bike to his canoe, docked along the river and was going to paddle across the river to his home in Port Allen.
A news release from the USCG was not clear about if Guy had been reported missing, but typically a search is conducted when authorities have reports that an individual is unaccounted for.
The Coast Guard focused the search on an area of the river from the Port Allen Locks, south along the bends of the river.
Guy was not spotted during the effort Monday.
