SCOTLANDVILLE- Scotlandville residents learned about a grant that could bring millions to the area at a community meeting Monday evening.

Community members came together at the Jewel J. Newman Community Center to discuss the $30 million grant from the federal government aimed to support under served communities. The grant was announced at a Scotlandville Promise Neighborhood program.

If Scotlandville is awarded the grant it would be paid out over five years.

Officials in Scotlandville said that education is one of the most important focuses of the grant, along with workforce training, college and family support.

The Promise Neighborhood program hopes to make a great impact on children in Scotlandville, and help them to achieve success in education.
