Scotlandville man's death could be drug related
SCOTLANDVILLE - Neighbors said a shooting that left a man dead in his driveway could have been drug related.
Neighbors said they heard two people arguing outside of his home before hearing shots fired. Police said early Saturday morning a witness found Clay's body lying in his driveway and called police.
Although many neighbors did not want to go on camera for a number of reasons, they said that his house was used as a drug house and much of the activity happened at night.
News 2 checked 36-year-old Tyrone Clay's criminal record and discovered a lengthy arrest record. He was charged back in 2013 for attempted 1st degree murder and related drugs charges.
Most recently, he was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and distribution of drugs by in 2014 after a complaint was made that he was selling drugs from his home.
According to reports, he told police that he was "selling marijuana to pay for his lawyer fees on the murder charge".
Neighbors said it's a sad situation that could have been avoided with a change in lifestyle. Clay was pronounced dead at the scene when police arrived. Police still have no leads in this case.
